Annual Town Caucus
The Annual Non-Partisan Town Caucus has been scheduled for the first Monday in March at 8 PM. in the Town Hall. A quorum of 25 voters is necessary to open the caucus. The purpose of the caucus is to nominate candidates to appear on the May Town Election ballot.
Providing that they receive 8-percent of the total caucus vote, the two persons receiving the highest number of caucus votes for any office will be declared nominated for that office. Caucus Nominees must sign a Certificate of Nomination, indicating their acceptance of the candidacy.
Offices on the ballot will include one Selectman, one Assessor, two Board of Health members, three Local School Committee members, two Planning Board members, and one Moderator.
Caucus Nominees must sign a Certificate of Nomination, indicating their acceptance of the candidacy. Any nominee who fails to sign the certificate prior to the 12 March 2018 deadline of 5:00 p.m., will have to file nomination papers to appear on the ballot.
Potential candidates not nominated by the caucus must contact the Town Clerk’s Office after the Caucus for nomination papers. In order to appear on the ballot, signed nomination papers must be returned to the Clerk’s office before 5:00 p.m. on 29 March 2018. Candidates for all offices must be residents and registered voters in the Town of Conway.
